Driven by a burning ambition to be a world famous rock star, Christy McCartney set out on a journey to stardom, unaware that this journey would take him into danger past imagining, after an unexpected and sudden encounter with a stranger on a moonlit night in Cherry Blossom Lane, Rossnew; a sleepy town in south east Ireland. From “The Royal Albert,” London to “The Hollywood Bowl,” L.A., Christy believed he had reached the dizzy heights of fame but beset by dark secrets, he found his sanity threatened in ways he could never have imagined until bewildered and unhappy, after one terrifying incident after another, he sought help from the one person he could trust, Father Collins whose own life was now in danger. What were the secrets that drove Christy to the verge of insanity? Who was his hidden enemy with uncanny powers? When he found the answer, his whole life and the lives of his family and friends was changed, utterly, forever.
Christy shrank back in terror as he looked down at the mangled body. He could see the unremitting horror in the wide open eyes. He had no plans for this moment. Like doors opening in his head his mind flashed back, ripping his soul apart. These were unintended consequences. He felt sick and an inescapable weakness overcame him as he slowly sank to the floor. His mind began to spin like the whirr of a spinning top. Colours flashed in his head and he heard a voice call out. “Christy, get out of bed.” It was his mother calling from the bottom of the stairs. “You will be late for school.”
Irish author Dermot Coburn lives in Ravensdale, an idyllic village nestling along the southern slopes of Clermont Mountain in County Louth. Like many great Irish writers, his stories generally revolve around the rich tapestry of characters and adventures that continue to populate the modern Irish landscape. Dermot is well known as an entrepreneur, businessman, and creator of the Little Chic Knitwear and Boomerang apparel brands. Dermot is a man of many talents and has demonstrated a flair for micro brewing, sloe gin production, and herbal hair restoration tonic, all using the best of ingredients that only Ravensdale can offer. Dermot has been writing short stories for several decades and was first published in 2012 when his stories began to attract fans across several countries. Dermot's widely anticipated new novel "Unintended Consequences" is an explosive mix of love, ambition, nature and rock music ignited by an unexpected and sudden encounter with a stranger on a moonlit night and its unintended consequences.
A great read. There's never a dull moment on this Irish roller coaster - moving along at a leisurely pace where you can take in the beautiful scenery then suddenly propelled into pulsating action in the twilight zone. The light and shadows, the scents, the vivid images are captured effortlessly and draw you in but you soon learn to always be on alert for the danger that lurks beneath in this highly engaging suspense thriller.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a story of two people who love each other - one becomes a very successful young business woman with a healthy passion for what she does and a humility that one can only aspire to. The other becomes a very successful rock star driven by an obsession to be the best. The story follows two paths - the road to establishing a successful enterprise in modern Ireland and the route to international rock stardom - set against a sinister backdrop that inevitably brings unintended consequences.

This is a tale of good and evil, set in modern, rural Ireland. The writer brings his reader on an evocative journey from the full irish breakfast, down country lanes filled with birdsong, along the banks of trout filled rivers and many a sip of Jameson. Along the way the plot weaves between interesting characters. This is not a stressed out, edge of the seat read, but rather a gentle read that will keep you enthralled in the comfort of your armchair untill you turn the last page.
The Sound Man
A really enjoyable read. The characters are well drawn - their manner of speaking etc rings true to life & draws you in. I found the storystory compelling and was dying to know how it would end. I won't spoil it by telling you! But suffice to say it was a gasp-worthy ending :-)

It is a surprising story within the beautiful Ireland, portraying wonderfully its ways, its landscapes, its people, its cooking… but within this wondeful paradise, awful things happen that leave you breathless!!! DO NOT MISS IT…
