Is there really such a thing as, the light at the end of the tunnel? America’s Hottest Wordsmith hopeful Christion Castillo experiences relentless highs and lows in all facets of his life as he competes to win this season’s poetry show. Face to face with deceit, envy and betrayal, Christion is forced to search deep within to discern the truth from the lies in order to discover his own self-worth. Will he be able to achieve this before it is too late? Army sergeant Sebastian Anthony’s life has been upside down since the prequel, Blinding Darkness. Still struggling with feeling second best to Christion, Sebastian is on a new mission. With no regard for his marriage to Simone, he is determined to keep the secrets of his past from surfacing and to become number one—at all costs. Caught in the crosshairs, Simone is left depending solely on her woman’s intuition to guide her out of this dark era of her life. With love hanging in the balance, can wholeness be restored or will the odds against love lead everyone to their own fate? Crawling Towards the Light is a riveting tale of proverbial human struggles that will evoke every emotion from anger to anticipation to relief. Are you ready to journey toward their light, and perhaps—your own?
PROLOGUE CHRISTION When darkness blinds you, the world around you feels extremely small. The air thickens with each breath you take, and the pressure of life feel more intense than it really is. Though that claustrophobic feeling resides only in your head, the pain and the confusion surrounding your life does not. Those two emotions are as real to you as a movie set is to an actor. Trust me. I know personally. For the past couple of years, I have been traversing the steepest mountain hoping to one day reach the top. From what I hear, that mountain is called life. Apparently, we are all climbing the same rock; however, until recently I did not realize that anyone else was around me clawing their way up as well. I honestly thought I was alone. I so badly wish that I had known sooner because maybe we could have all gotten through the tough times together. I finally understand the saying no one is perfect. There is a much deeper meaning to that phrase than most people realize. The only way I know how to explain its meaning is through poetry. Not through feel-good poetry. Real-life poetry. I never thought I would ever have to write this particular type of poem, but recent events have forced me to. I will never share it with the world because as soon as it is written, I will place it in the pocket of the blue shirt of the person it was written for. And I will only recite it this one time. In order for any of this to make sense, you must take the time to get familiar with the backstory. It will be a story you will never forget. While you are doing that, I will be here kneeling beside the person whom I wrote this poem for. In tears. Trying to gather my thoughts.
